We can’t expect Santa to take his boots off at every house he visits. That would just slow him down too much.
He doesn’t really have time to wipe them before he comes in either, so this can cause a problem. And it’s not just the snowy, slushy, muddy boot prints we need to worry about, what if he’s accidentally stepped in reindeer doo doo? Yuk!
Fear not, we have an idea for you… A quick solution that’s very carpet (and planet) friendly.
Over shoe protectors are the perfect answer. They are quick to put on and one size fits all. You can get bio-degradable ones too, so they can be recycled at the end of the night.
Much like masks, they are readily available. You could get some in time for the big night and leave this sign in your window so he knows you have some for him. Leave them on the hearth so he can pop them straight on when he arrives.

Speak to your carpet cleaning company. They will often be able to get them for you if you can’t find them online. Even better, they could have a word with Santa and get him a job lot at a discounted rate.
Other ideas
1. Scotchgard: Scotchgarding the area around the hearth.
2. Dust Sheet: You could put a temporary covering down around the fireplace – an old sheet or one of those plastic carpet protectors. Easy to remove away on Christmas morning after he’s been.
3. Be prepared: Simply have some soapy water on hand to clean up after he’s left if need be.
